Ares M4e Carbine AEG

The M4e Carbine by ARES is a full metal AEG featuring an Electronic Firing Control Unit (ECU). Typically, these ECU's have only been found in very high end AEG's, but ARES has integrated it into the gearbox design for the M4e, along with a microswitch MOSFET trigger. The M4e has beautifully engraved trademarks, a 5 position crane stock, and a solid handguard.

More on the M4e after the jump!

The Ares M4e is truly unique because of its Electronic Firing Control Unit (ECU). The ECU allows the user to program the full auto selection for the gun, or select a burst option. Additionally, the ECU ensures that the gearbox will not  over-spin with a more powerful battery, like an 11.1 Lipo.

Inside the M4e is also a MOSFET microswitch trigger, which makes the trigger pull short and crisp, with very little spring resistance. This kind of trigger also diminishes the possibility of corrosion of the trigger contacts, adding to the life of the gun.

Additionally, the M4e features a quick change spring system, where the spring can be accessed through the buffer tube without ever disassembling the receiver or gearbox. Out of the box, the M4e is firing at 400-405 fps, but in a few minutes and only a few tools, the spring can be swapped out to make the gun shoot at a lower fps, generally required for indoor airsoft games.

The M4e features a pre-installed 6.04mm tight-bore inner barrel, which adds to the gun's accuracy at longer ranges. Unlike many other factory standard barrels, the inner barrel in the M4e was designed for precision in mind. The outer barrel has 14mm clockwise threading for the addition of flash hiders, mock suppressors and tracer units.

The M4e has a functioning charging handle and bolt release, which are used to access the one piece hop-up. To access the hop-up, the user pulls back the charging handle, and the dust cover opens and exposes the now locked back bolt. The M4e uses a rotary type hop-up, similar to the ones found on SCAR style AEG's. Once the hop-up has been adjusted to the shooter's preference, the bolt can be released with the functioning bolt release on the opposite side of the gun. The dust cover can then be closed by hand if so desired.

The M4e comes with a metal 300 round high capacity magazine, but can accept any mid-capacity magazines for M4 AEG's as well. In combat, the M4e seemed to feed best with MAG brand 130 round mid-capacity magazines. They locked into the mag-well very securely, and fed BB's flawlessly on semi and full auto, as well as three round burst. Magpul PTS PMAGS were tested as well, but did not always feed as well as the MAG midcaps. This is likely because the PMAG has a slightly thinner top, which makes it more adaptable to make airsoft guns, but limits the pressure put on the feeding lip by the hop-up unit. In the case of the M4e, a few BB's from PMAGs would not feed, and the gun would dry fire. For someone who shoots conservatively, this dry firing is undesirable. With MAG midcaps, this issue did not exist and every BB fed flawlessly.

The M4e is a blast to play with, and an exceptional AEG for its price of only $280.00. Check it out here and pre-order yours today!
