Airsoft is a sport that relies on the outdoors to thrive. We shoot plastic pellets at each other, have a great time, and leave the field happy, but what did we leave behind?
For a long time, the sport of airsoft did not use any other BB's than standard plastic. These BB's are great because they're easily available in plenty of weights and are usually less expensive than their BIO counterparts. Most indoor players still choose to use standard BB's, because they can be vacuumed up or disposed of properly. However, many players use these same BB's outdoors, where they aren't vacuumed up or disposed of. The BB's will probably sit on that land forever.
Choosing to use biodegradable BB's is a responsible decision. BIO BB's don't have any different performance in airsoft guns, but they'll fall apart in a matter of months once they've been shot and are lying on the ground. Sure, standard BB's are a bit cheaper, but in the long run is saving a couple dollars really worth knowing you're leaving trash all over an airsoft field, your yard, or other sanctioned outdoor space?
